If you follow the Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL), then you have probably seen the standings, and it is not looking good for Lobi Stars.
They are currently languishing at the bottom of the 2025 NPFL table, with relegation now a harsh reality. This is tough, especially for the die-hard fans in Makurdi and across Nigeria.
It is quite sad when you realise there is no easy way out of their current situation. Ranking 20th on the table. This is a result of their poor performances throughout the start of the season.
Lobi Stars have lost all 5 of their last games this season. They have a match against Bendel Insurance scheduled for today, Sunday, 25, 2025, at Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu.
Let us watch and see how they perform against Bendel Insurance, who are currently ranked 5th on the table with just one loss and a draw from their last five games.
What exactly went wrong? Who knows? The main thing is they are not scoring winning goals. Their last victory was in December 2024.
Let us look at some of the reasons why Lobi Stars are fumbling hard this season.
Why Lobi Stars are at the Bottom of the NPFL Table 2025
1. No Home Comfort
This is the normal stadium wahala. You can not even imagine a professional football club without a proper home. The Aper Aku Stadium in Makurdi has been undergoing renovations.
2. Multiple Coaches
Can you imagine a football club that has been managed by up to five different coaches in a single season alone? We saw Baba Ganaru come in as interim head coach, and later Tony Bulus took the reins.
This lack of consistency and frequent changes mean no stable tactics, no consistent team philosophy, and players constantly having to adapt.
The journey back to the NPFL will be tough, no doubt. The club needs stability, proper funding, a settled home ground, and a clear vision for the future.
